Michael Douglas cancer update: Catherine Zeta Jones angry diagnosis wasn’t made earlier

Michael Douglas is speaking out about his recent Stage IV cancer diagnosis but he isn’t the only one. His wife, actress Catherine Zeta Jones spoke with US Weekly and shared her anger regarding Michael’s late diagnosis. Michael Douglas mentioned that he had visited doctors concerned that something was wrong but a diagnosis was never made. Only three weeks ago did a doctor confirm that he had Stage IV cancer, a tumor was found at the base of his tongue.

Though Michael Douglas is upbeat about his recovery and spoke with David Letterman positively about his treatment and odds for a complete recovery, Catherine Zeta Jones told US Weekly that Michael’s chances were lessened due to the failure of doctors to diagnosis him earlier.

“He sought every option and nothing was found. I knew something was up. He knew something was up. It makes me furious they didn’t detect it earlier.”

Elizabeth Olsen: Mary Kate and Ashley have a sister, who knew?

Not only do the Olsen twins, Mary Kate and Ashley have a sister named Elizabeth but she looks just like the twins, except for maybe towering over them. At least, it appears she may be about 6” taller than Mary Kate and Ashley in her photos.

Elizabeth Olsen is making headlines today, not just because she is the sister we never knew about, but because she is going to appear in an indie flick titled “Martha Marcy May Marlene.” Though Elizabeth Olsen appeared in some of her sister’s ‘Mary Kate and Ashley’ films, she has appeared in the made for TV movie “How the West Was Fun”, “The Adventures of Mary Kate and Ashley: The Case of the Mystery Cruise” and plays the character ‘Zoe’ in “Peace, Love and Misunderstanding” which is currently filming. Elizabeth will appear in the film with Chace Crawford, Catherin Keener, Rosanna Arquette, Jane Fonda, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyle MacLachlan.

In “Martha Marcy May Marlene” Elizabeth plays an ex-cult member; the film will be made for BorderLine Films.

If you’re like the many people who have yet to lay eyes on Elizabeth Olsen you may view photos of her at her MySpace page here. You may also see a photo of Elizabeth side by side with twins Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen here.

Michael Douglas reveals stage IV throat cancer on David Letterman (video)

It was a shocking and heartbreaking announcement when Michael Douglas revealed his battle with stage IV throat cancer on David Letterman last Tuesday. You may see the video in the player below. David Letterman welcomed Michael Douglas to the show, as Douglas is promoting his new film ‘Wall Street.’ Looking tanned but noticeably thinner, the conversation took on a serious tone as Michael Douglas discussed his recent throat cancer diagnosis.

Michael Douglas said he was diagnosed three weeks ago and though it is stage IV, Michael said that the cancer was limited to his head and neck. Michael’s voice was clear as he spoke and David Letterman interrupted him to comment on how well he looked.

Michael Douglas took it in stride and jokingly replied, “Cause I’m on stage.” Michael did say that he has started radiation treatment and though he feels well now, pointed out that it was the first week of treatment. It is unclear whether Michael Douglas will continue with his promotional tour for the movie.

At the end of the interview, David Letterman (who seemed apparently touched and stunned by Michael Douglas’ throat cancer announcement) said he felt like he should do something for Michael. Michael Douglas replied, “Aww, give me a hug,” and the two men embraced.

Michael Douglas is featured in the new issue of People Magazine and his face adorns the cover with the title ‘The Fight of His Life.” The issue hits stands on Friday.

The owner of the Vermilion 380 oil rig that exploded today west of the BP Deepwater Horizon site says that no oil was detected leaking from the oil rig. New reports by the Associated Press say that oil sheen is spreading from the Vermilion 380 oil rig site. Preliminary reports said that one worker was injured; Mariner Energy released a statement saying no injuries were reported.
