 Tiger Woods update: contributing to Haiti relief efforts
Today’s Tiger Woods update takes a different approach and doesn’t focus on his scandal. After the January 12, 2010 7.0 Haiti earthquake many around the nation have rallied in support for the Haitian people in this deep time of tragedy. Tiger Woods is no exception.

A tweet by the Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons stated that he had overheard that Tiger was considering ways to contribute to the Haiti relief. Many have donated to the Red Cross through a text message and other charitable organizations. It was suggested that Tiger Woods planned on donating a mobile hospital unit worth approximately 3 million dollars. Until now, however, those reports had not been confirmed.
Today, January 16, 2010 the president of the Tiger Woods Foundation, Greg McLaughlin confirmed the reports of charitable giving to the Associated Press. However, the report states that Tiger is looking for the best way to contribute. In a statement, Greg McLaughlin said, “”Our plan is be part of the relief effort to help rebuild Haiti by supporting organizations that provide critical resources to young people, which is consistent with our mission and previous efforts regarding Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Katrina and the 2004 tsunami.”
Tiger Woods charitable organization is reported to have raised $100,000 for the 2004 tsunami relief efforts.
