On Sunday, January 24, 2010 a series of aftershocks occurred, including one that measured 4.7. It is expected that the aftershocks will continue in the days to come. Yet, as the aftershocks cause fear and panic in those who survived the earthquake, more stories of amazing and miraculous rescues continue to emerge.

One woman, Mirelle Dittmer survived the earthquake for five days while on her knees and in extreme pain. She was in a market and said that there was no way for her to escape. She kneeled down to protect herself, but was stuck in that position. When asked how she didn’t go crazy she said it was her faith in Jesus Christ that kept her sane. Her amazing story is told in the video below.

Another survivor recounted his tale as well: Wismond Jean-Pierre. He survived the earthquake for 11 days. He had access to food and water while trapped inside a grocery store. Wismond’s story of survival is also revealed in the video below.

An amazing story of survival shows how technology helped save the life of one Haiti earthquake victim: Dan Woolley. Dan told his miraculous tale of how he was able to use his iPhone app for first aid treatment to treat his wounds.

He said in a televised interview, “I was not going to let, you know, a mistake I might make trying to treat my wounds. I have basic first aid knowledge but not advanced and I did want to in my disoriented state just make a mistake. So, I know I had my iPhone. I opened it up, and I had an app that had pre-downloaded all this information treating wounds. So, I looked up excessive bleeding and I looked up compound fracture.” Dan Woolley credits the app for telling him how to treat his wounds.

The stories of survival have brought great hope to many who continue to pray that their loved ones will also be found alive.
