The following video may play an important role in determining what transpired between Tilikum ‘Tilly’ the killer whale and Dawn Brancheau. Co-workers of Dawn Brancheau’s and SeaWorld officials have said that Tilly was dangerous and trainers were not to enter the water with the 12,000 pound whale. In the home video, Dawn is clearly seen in the water with the whale. She is also seen shaking her head from side to side, her ponytail swinging to the right and left, as Tilly mimics her movements.

According to the video and those experienced with killer whales, Dawn Brancheau’s behavior was partially to blame for the attack. During the press conference, however, SeaWorld President Jim Atchinson did not place fault on Dawn.

Though SeaWorld held a press conference today, stating that they will keep Tilly and will implement changes to the Shamu show as they continue to investigate the incident, public outrage has surfaced against the organization.

Even though the whale has killed three people, they have no plans on setting Tilikum back into the wild. In fact, SeaWorld will resume the killer whale shows at the Shamu Stadium at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010. SeaWorld is implementing changes and the trainers will not be allowed in the water with the killer whales.

Jim Atchinson spoke of Dawn Brancheau and said, “You know, at the end of the day, this is a terrible incident. As I mentioned earlier, I knew Dawn very well. Very well personally.

She was an amazing, dynamic woman, and a very, very talented trainer. So, the fact that this incident occurred for the first time in our 46- year history and occurred with such a talented individual, absolutely, we have to look at everything we do.”
