Kyron Horman case news: Terri Horman files court motion to have divorce proceedings delayed
As the search and criminal case into the disappearance of 7-year-old Portland, Oregon boy, Kyron Horman continues, his stepmother has filed a court motion to delay her pending divorce. Kaine Horman quickly filed a restraining order and divorce from Terri Moulton Horman, after he was allegedly told by authorities that his wife had solicited a landscaper to murder him. Terri Horman responded by hiring high profile criminal defense attorney Stephen Houze. The motion, filed in court yesterday, was filed by Terri’s divorce attorney Peter Bunch.
Vote in poll: Do you think Terri Horman did something to Kyron?
The motion filed by Peter Bunch requests that the court postpone Terri Horman’s divorce proceedings due to the media coverage from Kyron’s disappearance. He wrote in the motion, “As a result of the intense scrutiny and speculation, it is virtually impossible for me to proceed with divorce related issues in as I would ordinarily do.”
Using an example of Terri Horman’s financial situation he explained his case, “As an example, Petitioner recently filed a request for suit money. In the request, Petitioner grossly misstated the amount of money paid to Stephen Houze. He also contended that Respondent borrowed the money to pay Mr. Houze and that he could be entitled to receive on half of that money. Had Petitioner’s lawyer conferred with Wife’s counsel before filing the motion, Petitioner would have learned that Respondent did not borrow money to pay for Mr. Houze’s attorney fees, the money did not come from her funds, and she’s not asserting that her attorney fees with Mr. Houze are any sort of marital debt.”
Terri Horman’s attorney told the court that it is Kaine Horman who is financially employed and can essentially afford an attorney, he said that Terri Horman is unemployed, lives with her parents and has no income.
Peter Bunch also requested the divorce proceedings be delayed due to the custody issues involved with the couple’s daughter Kiara. He wrote about the time needed to find psychologists to evaluate both parents who are free from outside influences.
