George and Cindy Anthony, vilified?
Caylee Anthony

Commentary

Do you believe that George and Cindy Anthony have been unfairly vilified? At the beginning of the Casey Anthony case, the public was alerted to missing Caylee Anthony because of Cindy Anthony’s phone call. This alone should have been enough for many to realize that Cindy Anthony did not have a direct impact upon her granddaughter’s disappearance. It was Cindy Anthony who was panicked, Cindy Anthony who cried frantically, and Cindy Anthony who picked up the phone and called 911, three times.

What mother would believe that their daughter is capable of the heinous crime alleged of Casey Anthony? What grandmother wouldn’t want to believe that her granddaughter is alive and in the hands of a nanny rather than met with a horrific fate of death and murder. Is it right for the public to blame Cindy Anthony for clinging to the only hope that was presented to her, albeit that hope was offered by the one now charged with Caylee’s murder, Casey Anthony.

How about George Anthony? Did George Anthony behave in a manner that suggested he had anything to do with Caylee’s disappearance? The grief of losing Caylee has been obvious and at one point, George Anthony attempted to take his own life. Both Cindy and George Anthony stated that the smell in the vehicle was that of death. Many believe that George and Cindy Anthony are in denial, but who wouldn’t be? How can the human mind truly wrap itself around such horrific details such as cold blooded murder or a mother searching for ways to break her two year old daughter’s neck.

What do you think? Do you think that George and Cindy Anthony are guilty of a crime, or do you believe that they are in denial, trying to deal with the tragic loss of their granddaughter Caylee. Finally, do you believe that George and Cindy Anthony would do anything to suppress the truth, even if it meant lying to protect their daughter Casey Anthony.

  1. nannie bee Said,

The Anthony family is now saying they do not want problems for Mr. Kronk, only the truth. Well, they need to come out of the denial long enough to be truthful themselves. There are many things covered up, as in the pizza rotten in the car. The wrong hairbrush purposefully given to police and more. If you want truth, give truth and let the chips fall where they will. No matter if it is your own child, still the truth should come on out to the open and we should not cover murder in any case, this is wrong.

I agree. I never understood the hatred towards George and Cindy. They are basically acting the way any of us would do. I also never understood why anyone would think they were involved. Listening to Casey’s interrogations compared to George and Cindy’s is like black and white. You can tell who the liar is. Listening to Casey is like a dream. After it’s done you’re like “did that just happen?”. George and Cindy you can tell have nothing to hide and you can sense that during their interviews and depositions. They’re just desperate parents/grandparents in a situation none of us would ever want to be in.

I don’t think you provide enough options for your survey. I would have answered Yes, I think they have been vilified, however, and now are covering for Casey. I think these people have been put in an impossible situation, and granted, they are not our favorite characters, but in the beginning they were distraught, grief stricken and inexperienced with the media. I honestly believe that they were grieving. People should never have camped out at their house insulting them – they put the Anthony’s on the defense and being on the defense on the nationwide stage is difficult for the most seasoned but for the Anthony’s – impossible. Once they started covering for Casey they lost any sympathy from the public and rightfuly so. I am a mother, but I truly believe that if my daughter committed such an act; and in this I mean the 31 days without telling anyone, the lies, the absolute truth in that she knows more than she is telling and in all likely hood murdered her daughter – I could never defend her.

I do believe that the Anthony’s have done much to create the negative public reaction while trying to defend their daughter. Many times I have felt they have chosen to defend Casey instead of fighting for justice for Caylee. But I am not in their shoes. I sincerely believe they are grieving over both the loss of their precious granddaughter and over the loss of the family and life that they had.

I wonder if they will ever accept a guilty verdict(I do believe Casey is and will be found guilty) as being right. They seem unwilling to even entertain the possibility of Casey as the murderer of their granddaughter- at least publicly. We just don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in their house, maybe they do at least fear that Casey did do this.

This whole family could end up being studied and written about in psych journals given the level of dysfunction I see.

I will never understand a mother who thought she could get away with not reporting her daughter missing for 31 days. At least Cindy called 911! I also believe that both George and Cindy knew what it was they smelled in the car. How could they not? Once you have smelled decomp, you never forget- trust me on this, it does not smell like rotting pizza!!

  5. Hocuspocus Said,

Ugh, these people make a mockery of the word grandparent, they are proven liars and manipulators. They have retired on the earnings from their grandchild’s death and have spent their entire time hunting down the camera to get more face time. I think they are despicable.

  6. Barbara Said,

If they weren’t so money hungry and everything they are doing is for the dollar, I may have had some sympathy for them. However, they haven’t worked a day since they found out Caylee was missing and after a year, your mourning period should be over and you should be able to go back to work. I was given 3 days off when my mother died — why do they need more than a year?

  7. Bmore Said,

Where to start… Granted they probably are in denial but it’s their choice to stand by their daughter. That’s fine but don’t try and shove your belief of her lack of involvment down my throat. I’ll follow the evidence and make my own decision especially when it’s plain as day in front of my face. Parents support their criminal children all the time but don’t destroy evidence and lie to have them avoid paying for their crime. I think people feel sorry for them because of their loss but hate them for what they’ve become. The proven lies, manipulations, money grubbing is what made the Anthony’s villians not the public. How can they say they loved Caylee so much when they’re not even supporting her in death, that’s not how a grand-parent acts. No, I think their actions definetly did the damage to their reputation and credibility.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY DAUGHTER IS PREGNANT JUST BECAUSE SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE IS 7 MONTHS PREGNANT DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING MAYBE SHE IS JUST HALF PREGNANT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY DAUGHTER IS A LIAR SHE MAY TELL HALF TRUTHS, BUT THAT DOESNT MAK HER A LIAR. SHOULD I GO ON, BECAUSE BELIEVE ME THE ANTHONYS HAVE LEFT PLENTY OF AMMUNITION OUT THERE FOR ME TO GO ON AND ON AND ON WHAT A DUMBASS QUESTION

  9. liz Said,

Cindy and George are in DEEP DENIAL. They obviously loved and cared for Caylee, and that love and care extends to their murderous daughter, they are trying desperately, and in denial, to protect her. It would be admirable if not for the hideous facts surrounding the case. It seems inescapable that Casey murdered her own daughter, George and Cindy’s precious grand-daughter. So, so sad for everyone. Casey needs to face her fate, though.

  10. liz Said,

I saw them on the vacation/cruise news….they seemed so disconnected and yeah, George had a new piercing. They are weirdos without a grip on reality and in denial, but that makes them even sadder. Anything you see and hear prior to Caylee’s body being discovered is pure grandparent angst. They obviously love unconditionally (even unspeakable cruelty and murder is forgiven) so what does that say? Mental illness? DEEEEEEP denial and pain?
