 Photo Credit: Bree Yesterday, mourners, fans, and celebrities were donating to cover the cost of Corey Haim’s funeral. The actor passed away last week unexpectedly, leaving behind saddened family members who struggled to transport the actor’s body to his homeland: Canada.
Today, it was reported by TMZ that the company, Startifacts has offered $20,000 to cover expenses and to ensure that Corey Haim’s family will not need to bear the additional burden of financial strain atop of their pain and sorrow. Startifacts handled the eBay auction that had been enacted in an effort to raise funds.
Corey Haim was a popular teen star in the 80’s, appearing in hit films such as Lost Boys and License to Drive. He was good friends with Corey Feldman and the two appeared in a reality television series together. Corey Feldman has been very vocal regarding his grief and sadness over the loss of his friend, as well as the media’s portrayal of Corey’s drug addiction.
Corey Feldman requested that the public refrain from passing judgment on Corey Haim until after toxicology tests are completed and the official cause of death is determined.
Yesterday, the Los Angeles, California Attorney General announced that Corey Haim has been linked to an underground illegal prescription ring.
He will be buried on March 16, 2010 in Toronto, Canada. |

Brown stated in a press release that Corey Haim has been linked to an investigation of a prescription drug ring. The Attorney General announced that a current investigation into a massive and illegal prescription drug ring is underway and that the investigation has been linked to Corey Haim. According to the A.G., Corey Haim was in possession of an unauthorized prescription bearing his name. The prescription has been deemed fraudulent and was traced back to a San Diego dealer.
Attorney General Brown stated, “Corey Haim’s death is yet another tragedy linked to the growing problem of prescription-drug abuse. This problem is increasingly linked to criminal organizations, like the illegal and massive prescription-drug ring under investigation. It’s a serious public health problem.”
There have been approximately 5,000 fake prescriptions linked to the ring throughout Southern California. Attorney General Brown described how the ring operates.
He stated that first prescription writing pads are ordered using stolen identities of various physicians. The prescription writing pads are then sold on the street to various individuals who fill them out. Once the drugs are obtained they are then sold on the black market. Many physicians are unaware that their identities have been stolen and are being used in this manner.
Though the LAPD suspected that Corey Haim’s cause of death was an accidental overdose, the L.A. Coroner had deferred the official cause until toxicology reports are complete. |

Contributors are making donations online through Pay Pal and are leaving their condolences on Corey’s official MySpace page as well.
A note on Corey’s official MySpace page states that the funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in Toronto, Canada next week. Now, a new report by Access Hollywood says that the family is auctioning items off on EBay to help cover expenses as well.
According to Access Hollywood, a friend of Corey’s, Scott Schwartz stated that he will auction off some of Corey’s belongings to pay for funeral expenses.
Corey Haim was living with his mother to offer assistance while she underwent chemotherapy for cancer. Though she is dealing with the effects of radiation and the loss of her son, she spoke with Access Hollywood and stated that she is continually harassed by the media.

| Report: Corey Haim helping mother as she fought cancer
Photo Credit: Bree Corey Haim, the 80’s teen star who died this morning was living with his mother as he helped care for her as she fought against cancer, RadarOnline reports. Judy Haim granted Radar an exclusive interview where she said stated, “He was a good boy. I’m devastated by his death.” RadarOnline said that Judy Haim become too distraught to speak further about her son’s sudden and tragic death.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Corey Haim was home with his mother and had been dealing with flu like symptoms. He rose out of bed and then collapsed to the floor, his mother witnessed the tragedy and called 911. Corey Haim had moved in to assist his mother who was undergoing chemotherapy. Sources have stated that the two were very close and that Corey loved his mother very much.
Though Corey Haim had spoken openly about his battle with drugs, police do not believe that foul play was involved and have said that no illegal drugs were found in the apartment. There were however prescription and over-the-counter medications present. Though an official cause of death has not been determined, it is believed that Corey Haim died from an accidental overdose. It may take between 6-8 weeks for autopsy and toxicology results to confirm Corey Haim’s cause of death. |
| Corey Feldman blogged about Corey Haim’s addiction and end of The Two Coreys
Photo Credit: Bree Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were good friends. They were both teen stars in the 80’s, many girls confused the two, and it was no surprise when both appeared in the A&E series The Two Coreys. The series ran between 2007 and 2008 and came to its final end.
After the last episode of The Two Coreys, Corey Feldman shared his concern regarding Corey Haim’s battle with drug addiction through blogging. On Corey Feldman’s blog he stated that the reason the show would end was due to the fact that he could not continue to work with Corey Haim until he sought treatment for his addiction.
“I have said it before and I will say it again, the only way I would even consider another season or anything else with CH is if he gets the help he truly needs. Susie and I wish only the best to him in his future ventures, and in no way is this due to us having any angry or ill fated feelings towards him. It is strictly out of love that I have drawn the line that I have. In simpler terms I do not feel that it would be morally right, knowing what I now know of his situation, to continue on supporting his demise,” Corey Feldman wrote on his blog.
It was evident that Corey Feldman spoke of great concern regarding his friend’s well being, emotional, and physical health. He also spoke of the great pain and emotional turmoil that is often shared by those who are close to addicts. He mentioned the emotional rollercoaster that affected not only Corey Feldman, but Corey’s wife, Susie as well.
Corey Feldman continued, “I believe there is always hope. My hope is that he gets a message from all of this and turns his life around. I wholeheartedly want to see him succeed. However I cannot keep putting my family through the emotional roller coaster of never knowing what is going to happen next. So for now we must sever ties as I have been taught this is the only way to truly take a final stand for someone’s recovery.”
As is often the case with addiction, those who care about the addict are left feeling helpless and unable to help the person seek treatment. Though the official cause of death has not yet been released in Corey Haim’s case, a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department says that it appears to be accidental overdose. |

Appearing in teen films, Corey Haim was known for his performances in The Lost Boys, Lucas, Murphy’s Romance, and License to Drive. He was good friends with Corey Feldman and the two had starred in a reality program for the A&E Network: The Two Coreys.
Today, Corey Feldman released a statement sharing his sadness regarding the tragic news and loss of his longtime dear friend and fellow co-star.
Corey Feldman stated, “I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren’t even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school.
This is a tragic loss of a wonderful,beautiful,tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived. ~ Corey

| Corey Haim dead at 38
Photo Credit: Bree Teen actor Corey Haim was found dead early Thursday morning, March 10, 2010 by his mother, says the Los Angeles Police Department. Corey Haim was 38 years old and had struggled for many years with drug addiction. The actor was found in his apartment by his mother who called 911. Haim was immediately rushed to the Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where he was tragically pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m.
Reports say that Corey Haim had suffered from flu like symptoms and had been using a combination of prescription and over the counter medications to treat them. A similar situation occurred with the recent death of Brittany Murphy. Corey Haim had suffered a drug induced stroke in 2001 and had been in and out of drug rehab for many years. TMZ reports that the actor was offered to appear on the reality show Celebrity Rehab.
TMZ also reports that it took nearly twenty minutes for an ambulance to arrive at Corey Haim’s home at the Oakwood Apartment Complex and that the actor had already passed away before they arrived. That report, however, has not yet been confirmed by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office.
Corey Haim’s good friend and co-worker, Corey Feldman released a statement today on his blog where he spoke about Corey’s sudden passing. He said that “This is a tragic loss of a wonderful, beautiful, tormented soul, who will always be my brother, family, and best friend.”
