Shaun White speaks to Stephen Colbert about figure skating, Olympics 2010, and what comes next
Two time Olympic gold medal winner, Shaun White spoke with Stephen Colbert in a laid back and often humorous interview. The interview aired live on February 22, 2010. Shaun White was also interviewed by Larry King in an episode that aired on Monday night as well. Stephen Colbert has been in Vancouver and has many skits that have aired during the NBC Olympics. Slideshow: Shaun White rules the halfpipe, wins Olympic 2010 gold (photos, video)
Shaun White amazed everyone when he unleashed his Double McTwist 1260 at the Men’s Halfpipe event and blew away the competition. It was the only event that Shaun would compete in and the media circus surrounding the athlete has yet to dissipate.
Stephen Colbert asked Shaun White how many medals he has won, he answered that he doesn’t always receive medals, that sometimes the snowboarders get statues, etc. Shaun White said he wasn’t sure how many he had to which Steven asked if he had a Grammy, alluding to his recent Grammy win for best comedy album.
One of the highlights of the interview took place when Shaun White was asked to compare the methods used to judge figure skaters and snowboarders. Steven asked why the snowboarders don’t burst into tears after the judging as is typical with the figure skaters. To which, Shaun quickly responded that maybe the figure skaters were more emotional due to the outfits they had to wear.

Evan Lysacek and Nastia Liukin are boyfriend and girlfriend, fact or rumor (video)
Evan Lysacek and Nastia Liukin are boyfriend and girlfriend, fact or rumor (video)
People Magazine quoted Nastia Liukin as stating that she and Olympic 2010 gold medal winner Evan Lysacek are a couple. The announcement was eagerly welcomed by adoring fans who pictured the two skating and back-flipping their way into happily ever after while raising a brood of future athletes. Now, many aren’t so sure that the two are boyfriend and girlfriend thanks to statements that Evan Lysacek has made. (See video below)

There is no controversy that Nastia Liukin has said the two were a couple, stating that they have dated exclusively since last summer, according to People. The controversy arose from comments Evan Lysacek has made, several stating that he and Nastia are good friends, but that he has no time for dating and is extremely lonely.
Isn’t that just like a man? Poor Nastia, either Evan is trying to keep the relationship on the down low, or Nastia has clearly misread the signals and is in desperate need of a Greg Behrendt ‘He’s just not that into you’ intervention. In her defense of the statement, Evan did have wonderful things to say about her, and said that the two are extremely close.
Nastia Liukin is a gold medal gymnast and there’s no doubt that public would root for this high profile, athletic couple, but there is a far cry from being close friends and dating exclusively.
What gives?
If Evan and Nastia are dating and Evan is keeping things hush, hush, we recommend he confesses, if not, he runs the risk of making Nastia appear as a love sick puppy, chasing after a man who isn’t romantically interested.
Now, if that turns out to be the case…well, for her sake, let’s hope TMZ doesn’t get wind of it. Prime Writer News Network Topic: Olympics Top Olympics News Slideshow: Shaun White rules the halfpipe, wins Olympic 2010 gold (photos, video)
