Taylor Swift Grammy Awards 2010 performance sparks controversy (video)

Taylor Swift won four Grammy Awards at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards show that aired on January 31, 2010. Though she won the heart of her fans and Grammys for Best Country Song, Best Country Album and Best Country Vocal Performance, she also won the top honor, Album of the Year. What she hasn’t won, however, is public approval of her live performance with Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.

There is no disputing the fact that Taylor Swift was off key during her live Grammy performance. Now, many are saying that she simply can’t sing. Though many of her fans are offering forgiveness for the performance, there are others who are quickly calling for Kanye West’s return to the music scene, stating that he has been vindicated for his controversial comments comparing Beyonce and Taylor. Beyonce did win 6 Grammy Awards over Taylor’s 4 so Kanye can at least take comfort in that.

While many are critiquing Taylor Swift’s performance, most are ready to say that she is a positive role model. The President of Swift’s record label, Big Machine Records Scott Borchetta stated that there was a technical problem at the Grammy’s and that Taylor could not hear the correct key. The debate ensued with sympathetic fans insisting that Taylor is only human to others stating that Taylor is a good songwriter but a horrible singer and unworthy of her four Grammys. Taylor’s fans and critics have taken to Facebook, pledging their support and praise, as well as to heap online insults.

One post reads, “You cannot sing Taylor Swift. Being a huge fan of country music, I am now embarrassed that you represent it. You do not deserve half of the awards you have won. You haven’t not put in your dues yet. As for your writing, I respect it, but it is time to come up with something new. Life is about more than boys and fairytales, the act is getting extremely old. You are not country, you are pop music, stop pretending. Every performance I have watched of you, you are off key and it is terrible to watch.”

A fan countered the post by saying, “Talyor you did a good job at the Grammys don’t listen to the haters and the critiques cos they can’t break the 4 awards record like you just did at 19.”

Taylor Swift is traveling to Australia and Japan. She returns to the United States to launch her Fearless 2010 tour with a March 4, 2010 show in Tampa, Florida.

The video of Taylor Lautner as he beheads Kanye West for the honor of Taylor Swift continues to be popular.  The skit aired on SNL last Saturday and has been a hit with Taylor’s (and Twilight) fans ever since.

The two Taylor’s are rumored to be going out and Taylor revealed that he was on stage when Kanye snatched the microphone away from Taylor Swift.  Swift was receiving a VMA for best female video, West wanted the award to go to Beyonce.

Lautner shows off his impressive martial arts skills (he is a champion) and demonstrates what he should have done to Kanye West.

Awards or the Country Music Awards are known as Nashville’s greatest night of celebration. The awards are voted on by the Country Music Association business members and select the best and finest in country music each year. The 2009 CMA (Country Music Awards) aired live on November 11, 2009 and saw young singing sensation Taylor Swift as the top winner. Taylor Swift is 19, years old and has become the youngest singer to be named CMA’s entertainer of the year.

Born on December 13, 1989, Taylor Swift released her first single in 2006 titled “Tim McGraw’. Fearless was her second album and she has quickly become the highest selling artist throughout 2008. The singer isn’t limiting herself to country music fame as she is set to make her grand debut in the film Valentine’s Day set for release in 2010. Taylor Swift won a total of four CMA awards this year, 2009.

Taylor Swift won female vocalist of the year, entertainer of the year, album of the year, and music video of the year. What might be as impressive as Taylor Swift’s win is her songwriting and producing skills. Taylor Swift is co producer on her fearless album and either wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on her first album, Taylor Swift. Taylor’s second album, Fearless, debuted at #1 making it the highest debut of any country artist in 2008. In addition to being the youngest singer to win entertainer of the year, Taylor Swift is also the youngest singer to have won Album of the year.

During last night’s show, Taylor Swift opened by singing Forever and Always. She won best music video of the year for her song Love Story. When Taylor won for her album Fearless, she described the album as her personal diary.
